Spotlight on Colombian Cinema at VLAFF 2013!
The Vancouver Latin American Film Festival will celebrate Colombian cinema during its 11th edition. From August 30th to September 8th, Colombian filmmakers will be attending our festival to showcase some of their most recent works from this beautiful and diverse country.

The Vancouver Latin American Film Festival is inviting Canadian and international guests to attend the 11th edition of our festival. Our guests are directors and artists from different areas of the world including Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, Venezuela, and Colombia.
We are looking for volunteers to provide home accommodations for our guests. This is a great opportunity to open your home and show our guests an inside perspective of Vancouver life.
Submissions for the 2013 festival have now closed. Nuestra convocatoria ha sido cerrada, la selección de películas se anunciará a mediados de junio.

Our next "Best of VLAFF" screening is coming up on April 16th! We will be presenting the Brazilian documentary, THE HYPERWOMEN, winner of the Best Documentary Award at VLAFF 2012.

VLAFF's spring fundraiser will take place on Sunday, April 7th and this year we are shaking things up with a Zumba® Fitness fundraising party. Six local Zumba® Fitness Instructors will get us moving for an afternoon of pure dance fun!
VLAFF Board Member and Zumba instructor extraordinaire Adriana Contreras took some time to answer a few questions about Zumba and why you should attend this great event.
We are happy to bring back the Argentine time-travelling comedy Darling, I'm going out for cigarettes and will be right back for the March 19 screening of the "Best of VLAFF" series. VLAFF first screened this film at our 10th Anniversary Festival as part of a retrospective on directors Gastón Duprat and Mariano Cohn and screenwriter Andrés Duprat.
The Vancouver Latin American Film Festival is now accepting submissions for its Short Film Competition, Al Jazeera Documentary Award and Competition for First-Time Directors of a Feature-Length Narrative Film.

We are very happy to announce that the 2013 edition of our monthly screening series, "The Best of VLAFF" will kick off on Sunday, February 17th with the Mexican film, Expiration Date (Fecha de caducidad). The screening will take place at 6pm at The Cinematheque.
In 2012, Expiration Date was the recipient of VLAFF's 10th Anniversary Award for First-Time Directors, presented at VLAFF 10's Closing Night Gala. It also won the Audience Award at the Morelia International Film Festival.
