We are happy to bring back the Argentine time-travelling comedy Darling, I'm going out for cigarettes and will be right back for the March 19 screening of the "Best of VLAFF" series. VLAFF first screened this film at our 10th Anniversary Festival as part of a retrospective on directors Gastón Duprat and Mariano Cohn and screenwriter Andrés Duprat.
Based on a short story by Alberto Laiseca, the film follows the adventures of Ernesto Zambrana who, at sixty years of age, is feeling fed up with the humdrum nature of his life. When an opportunity to travel back to his younger years presents itself, he embarks on an extraordinary journey---without thinking twice about the consequences.
Darling, I'm going out for cigarettes and will be right back was nominated for the Best Screenplay Adaptation at the Argentine Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
A darkly comic gem of a thriller with genius performances. Ron Wilkinson, Monsters and Critics
