If you are already an Elvis fan, you will identify strongly with the intrigue and pathos of this film. If you are not an Elvis fan, you may just find yourself converted. The far-reaching legacy and fanatic passion of this musical legend born in Mississippi in 1935 is wondrously depicted in Armando Bo's first feature film.

In the competitive world of the Buenos Aires celebrity impersonator scene, Carlos Gutiérrez is a big star, at least in his own mind. By day, though, he must contend with a dead-end factory job and an ex-wife who worries about how his obsessive behaviour affects their young daughter, aptly named Lisa Marie. Feeling more connected to his persona as Elvis than to his own family, Carlos creates an incredible plan to once and for all truly become the King of Rock and Roll. This is a first appearance on screen for John McInerny, who delivers a passionate and authentic portrayal of Carlos, and who in his own life, besides being an architect, belts out the songs of Elvis Presley on the weekends.

In addition to being an impressive cinematographic achievement, The Last Elvis is a moving story that portrays the journey of a man who wants to live an honest life and be true to his passions, in spite of how extreme his behaviour may appear to others.

McInerny turns in an amazing performance and when he is singing on stage, he truly does sound and feel like the King himself.
